The Hague
Located on the scenic coast of the Netherlands, The Hague is the host city for the 19th International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC25). It is the Netherlands’ administrative capital and the seat of government for the country. Known as The International City of Peace and Justice, The Hague has a proud tradition of upholding international rule of law.
The Hague is also a popular tourist destination for its natural features. Considered the greenest city in Europe, The Hague is close to the beach and hiking areas. From historic palaces to sand dunes, galleries, and exotic cuisine, The Hague offers various cultural and natural attractions to explore.
Travelling to The Hague
The Hague is close to Amsterdam, and a 30 minute train and 45 minute drive from Amsterdam’s main international airport, Schiphol Airport. The city is also served by Rotterdam The Hague Airport, which has many international connections. Head to the city center by using Bus 33 with the metro at Meijersplein.
Airlines that serve The Hague Airport include Lufthansa, KLM, SWISS, British Airways, Delta, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Iberia, Air France, Emirates, United Airlines, Qatar Airways, Air Canada, Brussels Airlines, Finnair, LOT, Singapore Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, TAP AIR PORTUGAL, and Etihad Airways.

Why The Hague?
The Hague is a fascinating mix of the traditional and modern, and the local and global. As home to over 200 international organisations, The Hague commonly hosts international events and conferences for non-profits, academic institutions, think tanks, and network organisations.
The Hague also has a lively food and cultural scene. Try Haagse Kakker, a classic almond-currant bread available at Bakkerij Hessing on the Theresiastraat, which has been baking bread, pastries and cakes in The Hague for three generations. If you have a sweet tooth, try a Dungelmann croquette, Dudok Apple Pie, or the famous Poffertjes, mini pancakes with butter and generously sprinkled with icing sugar!
As an international city, The Hague features cuisine from multiple cultures and areas of the world. The Hague has its own Chinatown with Chinese, Japanese, and Indonesian options, all the way to fresh fish from the Scheveningen harbor.

IDCC25 Venue – Madurodam
The IDCC25 will take place in Madurodam, located in The Hague, Netherlands. Madurodam opened in 1952 as a tourist attraction featuring model replicas of famous Dutch cities and landmarks, and continues to host thousands of visitors every year. Seeking to give a realistic miniature portrayal of The Netherlands, everything in Madurodam – including infrastructure and models of Dutch citizens – is to scale. It also features a 3D selfie booth where visitors can make mini models of themselves. All profits made from the park go to local charities in the Netherlands.
Your ticket to the conference will include access to Madurodam park.
Travelling to Madurodam
Madurodam is 45 minutes away from Amsterdam and 25 minutes from Rotterdam. It is accessible by train through the Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag Hollands Spoor train stations, from which you can take a 10 minute tram or bus ride to reach Madurodam. You can plan your journey using www.9292ov.nl.
Driving to Madurodam
If driving to Madurodam from the centre of The Hague (A12, A4), follow the signs for Madurodam to the slip road for the Hubertus viaduct. Drive right onto the viaduct here, stay right and take the first exit towards Madurodam. At the bottom of the exit, turn left (under the viaduct) and you will find the car park on your right.
If driving to Madurodam from Wassenaar or Amsterdam (A44/N44, A4), head for Madurodam via the N14 towards Scheveningen, ending up on the Hubertus viaduct. Drive right onto the viaduct here, stay right and take the first exit towards Madurodam. At the bottom of the exit, turn left (under the viaduct) and you will find the car park on your right.
Parking at the Madurodam will be included with your ticket to the conference.
