Practical guidance and examples to help you develop your Data Management Plan
The DCC has been supporting researchers with DMPs since 2010. We monitor research funder requirements and have synthesised these into a checklist and set of good practice guidelines.

Research funders such as the European Commission, Wellcome Trust and NERC increasingly require grant-holders to develop and implement Data Management and Sharing Plans (DMPs). Plans typically state what data will be created and how, and outline the plans for sharing and preservation, noting what is appropriate given the nature of the data and any restrictions that may need to be applied. Page limits and specific templates may be applied, particularly at grant application stage. Please consult DMPonline for funder requirements for DMPs.
We recommend using DMPonline to develop your DMP. More information on the tool and DMP user community can be found on our DMPonline service pages.
Several groups collect examples of DMPs. These can provide a useful reference to help you see what approach others in your institution or research discipline have applied.
