FAIR DO's: Centring People in the Stewardship and Curation of Digital Objects
The FAIR principles emphasise machine actionability, but the increasing integration of artificial intelligence systems into data infrastructure carries the risk of marginalising people in the planning, management, and practice of digital curation.
The theme of this year’s conference acknowledges the crucial role of people in the work of making digital objects FAIR. This includes the labour involved, how it is recognised, supported, and the values that guide this work.
The call aims to attract contributions that focus on the human contribution in digital research infrastructure environments, particularly through involvement in research data management planning, metadata creation and application, skills development, policy development, and advocacy for responsible use of AI and data reuse within an open research environment.
Examples that address these themes in the context of equity, ethical governance, and community-based approaches to research data management and curation are especially welcome.
Call for Submissions for Papers, Lightning Talks, Posters, Demos, and Workshops will open in early May 2026.
