New Institute for Web Science

The Government has announced the creation of the new Institute for Web Science.  Designed to make the UK the hub of international research into the next generation of web and internet technologies, it will be a centre for research and development, enabling collaboration with businesses and identifying opportunities for social and economic benefit from use of the Web.  With Web 3.0 expected to introduce a new level of activity by publishing data in a linkable format,  the impact has been predicted to be as important as the creation of the original web.  It also increases the significance of good practice in data management.
