A New Director at the Digital Curation Centre

Graham Pryor | 22 April 2010

We welcome Kevin Ashley as the new DCC Director, succeeding Chris Rusbridge upon his retirement earlier this month.

Kevin has been Head of Digital Archives at the University of London Computer Centre since 1997, from where his multi-disciplinary group has provided services related to the preservation and reusability of digital resources on behalf of other organisations, as well as conducting research, development and training. He has now taken on the mantle of DCC Director, a position occupied for more than 5 years by Chris Rusbridge, who retired on 16th April.  Farewell presentations to Chris were made throughout the month by, amongst others, the Digital Preservation Coalition and JISC, culminating in a reception at Edinburgh University, when friends old and new came to wish him well.  We know Chris will miss his colleagues at the DCC, its partner institutions and at Edinburgh University; but most of all he will miss the view from Level 7 of the Appleton Tower, which he has been known to remark "is truly wonderful in all sorts of weather"!

We too wish him well as he navigates the mindmap of retirement.
