Welcome Irina Hope - Events Specialist at DCC!

My name is Irina Hope, and I joined the DCC team in the role of Events Specialist at the end of October.

In my new role I will be organizing and managing all aspects of event planning from finding venues/online platforms, budgeting, administrative & financial support, to arranging logistics of events. I will be fully involved in preparations for DCC’s events such as the International Digital Curation Conference to RDA Plenary Meetings. My path in Events industry began when I volunteered in helping to organize XXII Winter Olympic Games in 2014 in Sochi, Russia. During the time spent at the World’s largest sport event, I realized that I would build my career in Events.

I moved to Edinburgh in 2015 where I started working in hospitality and within two years, I reached the position of Events Executive in APEX Hotels. Not only did I organize private and corporate events from initial enquiry to finalizing events' details, but also running events on the day.

My long-term career dream was to be a part of events team in a larger, well-recognized organization. In 2019 I accepted a job at Edinburgh First, a part of the University of Edinburgh. I worked as an Events Coordinator where I planned and managed a variety of events, ranging from international conferences with hundreds of attendees to small meetings and private celebration events. I was also involved in assisting data management planning for one of the largest department’s events.

I am very excited to join DCC’s professional team! I am confident that DDC’s projects will bring many challenges and interesting workdays.
