Principles of Research Data Management
Overview
Behind every great research project, there is great data management. Research data management (RDM) is about how data is created, collected, analysed, preserved, and shared. It is crucial to effectively manage data as it is a key part of ensuring the credibility and reproducibility of your research.
The Digital Curation Centre (DCC) is hosting a full day in-person workshop on the Principles of Research Data Management in Edinburgh on Thursday 30 May 2024. This interactive workshop will introduce participants to the basic principles of RDM and discuss why it is ever important to manage data well. The DCC team will highlight the key concepts and best practices associated with good data management, including licensing, data sharing, preparing files and documentation for deposit into a repository, and securing your research data safely.
This workshop:
-
Takes a step-by-step look at the data curation lifecycle.
-
Introduces useful resources to help participants apply RDM concepts in their own projects.
-
Provides opportunities to discuss RDM with colleagues from a range of backgrounds.
