Biography: 

Don has an academic background that covers both the humanities and information sciences. He earned his first undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Leeds in 2003. His dissertation applied concepts from the philosophy of explanation to debates in the area of philosophy of biology. Later, in 2019, he earned his second undergraduate degree in computing & IT from the Open University. For his final project, he applied semantic web technologies to tackle the challenge of identifying analogous concepts over disparate domains.

He has gained diverse work experience over the years. He taught English language in Chile and the UK before joining the University of Edinburgh in 2012, where he worked in student and academic support roles at Moray House and CAHSS College Office. He then worked as a SharePoint Developer in IS Apps in Information Services before joining the DCC in the spring of 2023.
